When I was a freshman, I had been the queen of balls. I was good at dance from tango, cha-cha to disco. After I worked, I often go to disco bar. I like to jump the stage and lead dancing. My craze and passion always impress my friends. My vigor brought me a colorful life and also inspired others’ lives.

During university, as a vice monitor of my class, I created our class magazine, organized our football team and helped establish three student clubs. I encouraged the morale of our football team, the weakest one in the whole freshmen football games and eventually won the champion. Our team made the miracle and became unbeatable one. I also built up my confidence in my leadership. Afterward, I founded the Speech and Oratorical Society Club in the university and had more than 300 members. As a cultural emissary, I led the exchange students from U.S., Japan and South Korea to tour Beijing and shared with them the Chinese culture. My eventful university life made me many friends and also improved my leadership skill.

When I worked in ABC, I originated the Youth Club, the first club in our agency. I used the club to organize weekend-trip out of Shanghai. This is the first activity which spans different departments. I broke the boundary of departments and created team spirit. The open communication and the relaxing recreational activities made us into one big family. I also wrote a proposal to encourage all staff to donate to Project Hope – a charity project to create opportunities for underprivileged children. The proposal was praised by our president and I received many letters for thanks. Most importantly, more than 20 children could go back to school because of our help.

In addition, my unique family background made an important impact on me. Born in a media family, I inherited my parents’ courage and enthusiasm stemming from their profession and knew about media industry very early. Both of them are very passionate and optimistic. My father won the First National Best Journalist Award in 1984, which is the top award in Chinese journalism. My mother, a senior editor in a children magazine, never regarded me as a kid. My mother often gave me some opportunities to edit some articles for pupils, when I was in the primary school. In my mind, they are not my parents but my good friends.

Due to my parent’s job, moving house was an ordinary thing. Such experience has shaped my communicating skills and the adaptability to changes. Since one year old, I have begun my “nomadic life” with my family. I have lived in five cities in China, and transferred eight schools. Although I felt frustrated for leaving my old friends and different dialects hindered me from talking with others, I could adapt to the unfamiliar environment very quickly. I learned to observe and judge other’scharacteristics. I could distinguish who was easily approaching and possible to be my friends. No more than one week I went to a new school, I had already became very active and got along well with my new classmates. I benefited from my ability to the judgment of human beings after I worked. As a reporter, I have to communicate with strangers very frequently. The profession helped me be more skillful to treat different people in the different ways or motivate people with different personalities. I am happy that throughout my life so far, I have done things out of the ordinary. It has given me great satisfaction and the yearning to reach for even greater things. Wharton will be the key to the doors that I want to open. I will bring my passion to Wharton. I dare to dream, I dare to try and I will make a difference.
